Know Before You Go: Tierra Patagonia (Torres del Paine, Chile)
Majestic mountains, awe-inspiring treks, glistening lakes, wild animal spotting, and delectable dining. Prior to staying at Tierra Patagonia, we never could have imagined what it would be like to have a vast expanse of national parkland to explore pretty much all to ourselves, while starting and ending our days at a luxury lodge deep in the heart of the protected wilderness. The beauty of this place and the kind and thoughtful service experience here were superb. While the hotel does not expressly cater to families traveling with children, we found the connecting room setup, attentive and personalized service, dining, and all-inclusive safari experience here to be a great fit for our family. The children loved going on treks in the mornings while spending afternoons at the indoor pool, though full-day or twice-daily excursions were also available. Our stay far-surpassed our expectations and left us keen to return to Chile and visit some of the sister lodges (Tierra Atacama and Tierra Chiloe) while instilling deep gratitude to the team for going above and beyond to take care of us.

Good to Know
Tierra Patagonia welcomes children age 10+ (we contacted the hotel in advance about bringing our youngest who was 8 years old at time of travel and were granted an exception)
The weather can vary widely from day-to-day and throughout the day; the hotel provides packing tips emailed ahead of arrival, which we are glad we followed to have the essentials on hand: hats and sunglasses for sun protection, rain jackets, rain pants, and waterproof hiking shoes/boots
All-inclusive covers all meals and beverages daily (including alcoholic beverages and cocktails), choice of daily guided excursions (one full-day or two half-day), round-trip group transfers from Puerto Natales airport (for stays of 3+ nights), access to the spa and fitness facilities (treatments excluded), and gratuity (additional gratuity is optional and can be added at the end of your stay)
Nearest town is Puerto Natales, 1h20m drive
The crowd here was largely older and international — mostly families traveling with adult children, active retirees from the UK, Australia, Asia, and some from North America
